Emilio Pucci F/W 08.09 Fashion

March 7th, 2008

I never have been a big Emilio Pucci fan, seeing as bold colors and Mondriaan-esque designs are not really my idea of a feminine and pretty outfit — but I can see the impact Pucci has and will continue to have on fashion in general — even if I don’t like it too much.

This Fall/Winter 08-09 collection is a little less bold than we’re used to see — and is actually somewhat pretty. I’m undecided. Pics thanks to blog-tique.com and Yahoo!

Balmain Fashion F/W ‘08/’09 Catwalk

March 2nd, 2008

Balmain is a great label, and they’ve done yet another awesome collection. I actually missed it when the pics first leaked out, but when doing my daily round around the blogosphere I landed on Blog-Tique and found pics of the Balmain Fall/Winter 08/09 runway show!

Elena Miro Fall/Winter 08-09

February 21st, 2008

A somewhat dissapointing runway show by Elena Miro if you ask me. I loved her previous work a lot, but this time — it all looks quite basic and simple — maybe a little too simple to my liking.

I’m sure there’s an audience for this, but maybe that audience would appreciate some real plus sized models too? :s

Becca Beachwear 2008 Collection

January 29th, 2008

These pictures are from the Miami Swim (sponsored by Mercedes-Benz) shows done last fall for the Spring/Summer 2008 beachwear collections — and Beachwear.cc has updated last week with these pics as a follow up to their original post introducing the Becca label.

I’m adoring the grayscale pieces — and the banded bikini bottoms. My favorites are in the top row. Lovely!

Givenchy Haute Couture 2008 Spring Summer

January 29th, 2008

Givenchy is a big name — it’s one of those fashion empires that was founded back in 1952 by Hubert de Givenchy. Today, both the pret-a-porter as the haute couture is being designed by director Riccardo Tisci — one of the rising stars in the fashion industry.

This collection, by Tisci, is a beauty. Photos below are sure to stun! :)

J. Mendel Fashion Spring/Summer 2008

January 13th, 2008

Loved this post from blog-tique — decided to give them some lovin’! ;)

The J. Mendel Spring/Summer IS a really versatile collection. I’ve selected a number of look, not only to show you the versatility, but also to show my personal favorites from a collection I’m really enjoying! […] 1. Beautiful knitted dress. I love the belt, and the volume of the lower half of the dress. Pretty! 2. Elegant, sexy and feminine. A sober dress that just works. I love the color! 3. A classy suit with a breathtaking jacket. This combo is gorgeous with the scarf. Another lovely piece! 4. A crowded dress — but J. Mendel pulls it off. Deep decolleté, very sexy indeed! 5. 70’s feel dress — my favorite. Very intimate.

Rad Hourani Spring/Summer 2008 Paris Catwalk Show

December 16th, 2007

This collection is beautiful, although the dark colors may not suit all for the warmer months. The show was beautiful itself, despite the use of blacks and browns. The models wore very minimal make-up, which I think is a great aspect. Normally when you have models who are covered in glitter and glam themselves, it takes away from the designs. The clothes are what we want to see, and this collection was presented brilliantly. The burst of white in the last picture is great, and I love the leather in the designs. Overall it was a beautiful collection and very well presented on the catwalkJ

Elena Miro Spring/Summer 2008 in Milan

December 12th, 2007

The reason that this is one of my favorite catwalk shows this season is because the Elena Miro collection is geared toward the larger woman. While the models in the show weren’t terribly larger than the normally wafer-thin models that we see, they were still a bit larger, making it seem like this collection is great for regular women, those who are not a size 0, you know, those of us in the real world. I love that the models all look so happy and have so much sexy confidence. It’s great to see a catwalk show that informs the world that you don’t have to be stick skinny to look sexy. The designs themselves are gorgeous, and really give a sophisticated and elegant sexy look to whoever wears them.

Aurelio Costarella Spring/Summer 2008 NYC

November 25th, 2007

This was a gorgeous catwalk show. The Aurelio Costarella collection for 2008 was titled “Of Heaven and Earth”. The designs were elegant and sexy, and the whole show was so fun to watch. I adore the color palette that he used for this. I truly expect to see some of these dresses on celebrities during award shows in the coming months. The strapless with the slash side pockets is my absolute favorite. It is very innovative. Overall, the entire collection is great - colors, styles, fabrics - everything was perfect! I do wish they would encourage smiling more from the models. After all, these designs are so beautiful I, for one would be grinning like a Chessy Cat just to wear them.
